Since February 2020 the ATO have been issuing alerts via email and SMS to self-managed super funds (SMSF) trustees when certain changes are made to your fund. This often occurs when you lodge the fund’s annual tax return.

An alert may issue for changes to:

  • financial institution account details
  • electronic service address
  • authorised contact
  • members.

Anytime you update these details, you should:

  • expect an alert from the ATO
  • understand that no action needs to be taken by you

These alerts are being sent to SMSF trustees to ensure you are aware of changes and to mitigate the risk of your superfunds details being fraudulently changed. If you have any concerns about changes being made without your knowledge or consent please contact us immediately.
